What is Supervised Visitation?

Supervised Visitation is the contact that takes place between the Non-Custodial parent and one of more children in the presence of a neutral third party; that is responsible for observing and seeking to ensure the safety of those involved.   Professional Providers of Supervised Visitation Services must follow the California Family Code and the California Standards for the Rules of Court,  adopted by the Judicial Council pursuant to Section 3200.5  


What is the California Family Code?


They are standards for supervised visitation providers, adopted by the Judicial Council pursuant to Section 3200.5, (which the court has determined that there is Domestic Violence or Child Abuse or neglect, as defined in Section 11165.6 of the Penal Code, and the court determines supervision is necessary,) the court shall consider whether to use a professional or non-professional provider; based upon the child’s best interest.  Click on the link below for more  information.

In an effort to effectively abate the conflict between the 

Non-Custodial Parent and the Custodial Parent and, any and all care providers of the children; supervised child visitation may be mandated by the court; where your case is held.  This is to peacefully facilitate the development of an emotionally healthy relationship, between the Non-Custodial Parent and the child or children.

How Do I Get Started with Safe Haven Child Visits and hire a Professional Provider of Supervised Child Visitation?

STEP ONE

Simply give us a call at (888) 465-7779, and we will discuss your court case and your visitation schedule the court has rendered. Please have with you the following necessary documents:

1.) Your California Driver’s License or Legal Photo ID

2) Photos of each of the children, their names, and ages

3.) Your Court Order (and or Court Minutes if any)

STEP TWO

We will then set up an Intake Orientation Appointment Meeting with you. The other parent (or Guardian) will have to have one also (these are done at separate times; each parent has their own Intake Orientation Appointment). Your information is private and not discussed or divulged to the other parent (or Guardian).

You then have the other parent contact us to schedule an Intake Orientation Appointment. They too must bring with them the aforementioned documents and photos.   The Rules of the Court for California require that a separate meeting with you and the other parent (both the Non-Custodial and the Custodial Parent); for an Intake Orientation Appointment (both parents have to have one with the Professional Provider/Monitor).


What happens at the Intake Orientation Appointment?

1.) You pay for your Intake Orientation Appointment (usually the court order stipulates that, the visiting parent pays for the Intake Appointment for both the Non-Custodial Parent and the Custodial Parent); unless the court order specifies differently. All fees (Intake Appointment Fee, and the Visitation Appointment Fee) is due and payable in full, in cash at the beginning of the Intake Appointment, and at the beginning of each scheduled visitation). You are given a receipt each time. You only need one Intake Appointment per parent or guardian.


2.) We review our Client Contractual Monitoring Services Agreement

3.) We review our policies, procedures, and guidelines

4.) Your sign your documents, receive copies, give us the contact information (if you have it) for the other parent (or Guardian), and receive are getting started packet, including our Covid-19 Protocol and Liability Waiver.  We are following all CDC Guidelines and the Public Health Department, in regard to the Covid-19 Pandemic.  All persons on the visit (child or children and visiting parent) and at the exchanges (Non-Custodial Parent, child or children) and the Professional Provider are required to wear a mask and wash their hands before the visit (before you leave home or, wherever you are coming from) .  Children two years old or younger are not required to wear a mask, per the the California Public Health Department to date.

5.) We then choose the location and activities you want to have for your visitation (Custodial Parent has to agree to the visitation location).

6.)  Each parent is given a copy of the California Rules of the Court 5.20, Uniform Standards of the Court 3200.5 for Professional Providers of Professional Supervised Monitored Visitation.


Due to the current Covid-19 Protocols with the Public Health Department in California and the Center for Disease Control, we are following all safety procedures and protocols; as required by the aforementioned.


What happens during the Scheduled Visitation?

The Professional Provider of Supervised Visitation will then observe the interactions between the visiting parent and the child or children. They will take Observation Notes, based on their observations during the visitation (of what they see and hear at exchanges and on visits).   If the visiting parent schedules a visitation the where a meal takes place, or other expenses incurred by the Professional Provider,  (i.e. a parking facility where you must pay for parking, a restaurant, a movie theater, or anywhere there is payment required to attend or access the location); the visiting parent is responsible for those fees incurred by the Professional Provider (at the time of the visitation; in full). The child is never to leave the sight or hearing range of the Professional Provider. Our goal is for you to have a neutral, non-biased, safe, enjoyable visit with your child or children.    

What is Supervised Visitation?

What is Supervised Exchange?

A supervised custody exchange or monitored exchange, is a method of transferring custodial time from one divorced or separated parent to the other: in a way that prevents interaction or conflict between the parents during the transfer. 

What is the Purpose of Supervised Visitation? 

The purpose of supervised visitation is to provide a safe and neutral environment for children to have a relationship with parents, and is often used in high conflict situations.

Per our cancellation policy, a minimum 24 hour notice for cancelling or postponement,must be given to us; prior to visitation appointment. Any cancellation, no show, or postponement in less than 24 hours; will be subject to the full fee being assessed of the cancelled, no show, or postponed visit; by the party who is cancelling (unless you have a doctor's note for the date you are cancelling) and an inconvenience fee, and or late fee (if it is a no-show) .
